Spring Landscape
A sky of splashing white clouds
and a river of pristine current,
in which shores a white flock
grazes meekly on the bright field.
The grove’s green gray hues
in harmonious, smiling concert
cast a soft shadow on the garrulous fountain
where the placid lamb comes to drink.
The forest is an enormous canopy of colors,
the earth covers the shiny flowers,
and among the shadowy foliage stands out
A fisherman, who with patient knack
prepares the bait on his weak rod
throwing it into the crystal of the river.
Paisaje primaveral
Un cielo de albas nubes salpicado
y un riachuelo de límpida corriente,
a cuya orilla pasta mansamente
blanco rebaño en el luciente prado.
El tinte verde gris del arbolado
en concierto armonioso y sonriente,
da suave sombra a la parlera fuente
donde abreva el cordero sosegado.
El bosque es palio inmenso de colores,
la tierra alfombra de brillantes flores,
y se destaca entre el ramaje umbrío,
Un pescador, que con paciente maña
prepara el cebo de su débil caña
que arroja luego en el cristal del río. . .
