Halftime Poet (trans.)
What am I doing?
My eyes close by
the minute, blinking.
I am where I don’t want to be.
Be more a poet,
less of the State,
more of my own.
I wake up in routines,
breakfast and lunch
pieces I digest badly.
I wish I’d vomit them.
For my time to be returned.
I am less a poet than all female poets.
My jaw shakes as write this.
I want to tell my mother
for my own comfort.
Mom, I don’t want to, not no more.
I come close to my own breast.
I smell, I taste, I breathe.
I sing myself a lullaby.
I fall asleep.
I’m a halftime poet.

¿Qué estoy haciendo?
Se me cierra la mirada
a minutos en parpadeos.
Estoy donde no quiero.
Ser más poeta,
menos del estado,
más de mi misma.
Despierto en rutinas,
desayuno y almuerzo
milesimas que indigesto.
Ojalá las vomitara.
Que me devuelva el tiempo.
Soy menos poetas que las poetas.
La mandíbula tiembla al escribir esto.
Tengo ganas de decirme mamá
para mi propio consuelo.
Mamá ya no quiero, ya no quiero.
Me acerco a mi propia teta
huelo, saboreo y respiro.
Me canto una canción de cuna.
Me duermo.
Soy poeta a medio tiempo.
