Carlos Aníbal Colón Ruiz was born in 1997 in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. He is the author of the poetry books Los tres corazones del tiempo (2017), Hambre Nueva (2019), and Visión de Carne (El Taller Blanco Ediciones, 2020). In 2020, he was a finalist for the Coral Gables Juan Ramón Jiménez International Poetry First Prize. Colón Ruiz studied at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras and Aguadilla campuses. His literary influences include Frank Báez, Cindy Jiménez-Vera, Homero Pumarol, Alma Karla Sandoval, and Roberto Bolaño. In 2017, he participated in the Encuentro de Jóvenes Escritores de Iberoamérica y el Caribe at the book festival in La Habana, Cuba. That same year, he created the literary press Editorial Pulpo. In 2020, he co-founded the literary magazine Demoliendo Hoteles  alongside Ivelisse Álvarez, Nelmaries Medina Rodríguez, Jean Alberto Rodríguez-Torres and Daniel Rosa Hunter.
