Mairym Cruz-Bernal
(She/Her)Mairym Cruz-Bernal (1963) is a Puerto Rican poet, educator, editor, translator, columnist, and essayist. She presided over PEN Puerto Rico from 2008-2012, as well as over the V Encuentro Internacional de Escritoras en Puerto Rico in 2003, where more than 300 women writers signed a manifesto for peace. She holds an MA in creative writing from Vermont College, Norwich University (1994). Her poems have been translated into Macedonian, Arabic, Croatian, Slovenian, Italian, Portuguese, English, German, French, Polish, and Mandarin. She’s an honorary member of the Círculo de Escritores de Venezuela and maintains friendly alliances with the Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC) and the Sociedad de Escritores de Chile (SECH) and is a Member of the Movimiento Poetas del Caribe: Unidos por la paz (Barranquilla, Colombia). Cruz-Bernal is the International President-Advisor of the Encuentros Internacionales de Escritoras (EIDE), an itinerant movement. She has published 18 books all over the world.
