Lala González-Rodríguez was born in 1968, in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. She holds a BA in marketing from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, and a BA in education from the Universidad Interamericana, San Germán Campus. González-Rodríguez is the author of the books Dos caras de dos cuerpos (Editorial Pelícano, 2011), En el espejo de mi cuerpo (Yazul Editores, 2013), Mi cuerpo grita tu nombre (autopublicado, 2020), and Bajo la sombra de mi Ilan Ilan (self-published, 2022). Her creative work has also been published in the anthology Poemas de amor (Guajana, 2012) and with the Cátedra de mujeres negras ancestrales. Her significant literary influences include Ángela M. Valentín, Julia de Burgos, Alejandra Pizarnik, Alfonsina Storni, Violeta Parra, Juan Antonio Corretjer, Lola Rodríguez de Tió, and Lolita Lebrón. She currently lives in Melbourne, Florida.
