Ysabel Y. González, also known as Ancestral Poetisa, was born in the Bronx, New York and raised in Newark, New Jersey. She received her bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and her MFA in poetry from Drew University. She works with the Poetry Program at the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Program as a coordinator for their festivals Clearing the Spring, Tending the Fountain, and Dodge Poetry Festival. González has worked at Rutgers University, the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, and the Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University. Her poetry includes Wild Invocations (Get Fresh Books, 2019) and has been published in Acentos Review, Huizache, Kalyani, phati’tude Literary Magazine, Waxwing Literary Journal, and It Was Written: Poetry Inspired by Hip-Hop.
