Cristina Guzmán Apellániz was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico in 1976, and grew up in Caguas, Puerto Rico. Her work has been published in literary platforms such as Alfarrábios Revista Latinoamericana, the Antología Certamen de Cuento Corto José Luis González, Terredades, and the Antología Cuentos del Taller Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña. Guzmán Apellániz obtained her BA in history of the Americas and public communication from the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras. Her work has been influenced by literary movements such as surrealism and structuralism. Currently, she lives in Río Piedras and works for the Puerto Rican Lottery.
