The Puerto Rican Literature Project

Rafael Martínez Álvarez was born in 1882 in San Juan, Puerto Rico and died in 1959. In addition to being a poet and novelist, he was also a playwright. Martínez Álvarez’s works include Don Cati (Real Hermanos, 1923), El loco del Condado (1925), La ciudad chismosa y calumniante (1926), Madre, ahí tienes a tu hijo (1927), Pancho Ibero (1935), and Novus Ordo (1938).
