Claritza Maldonado is a Chicago-born Puerto Rican poet, writer, scholar, and educator. She is currently a PhD candidate in American Studies at Brown University, with a focus in (Afro)Latina/o/x studies and Caribbean studies. She holds a BA in linguistics with a minor in Latina/o studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MA in public humanities from Brown University. Her poetry has been published in Wanderer Poetry and The Brooklyn Rail. Her poetry has also been part of collaborative creative projects, such as Roy McGrath’s musical album, Remembranzas; Raíces to Roots, a dance, spoken word, and music production; and Puerto Rico in mi corazón (Anomalous Press, 2019). She serves as a Spalter Teaching Fellow at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum (RISD) Museum working with School + Teacher Programs (K-12) and a Graduate Student Coordinator at the Sarah Doyle Center for Women and Gender.
