Santiago Marín Solá was a trovador from Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Through his workshop, La Borinquen, and later his factory, La Trilogía, he worked on the craft of tobacco leaf processing. Marín Solá also established two café-restaurants, El Tonto and La Democracia Limpia, and wrote for newspapers in defense of social justice causes related to Puerto Rico. He also worked on the production of his Ron Topacio. Marín Solá composed music about home affairs, and festivities, among other themes, and the songs of his authorship include “Triple ruego,” “Ayer y Hoy,” and “La esperanza perdida.”
