Luis Mayo
(He/Him)The writer and scholar Luis Mayo Santana was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He holds a PhD in philosophy with a specialization in Puerto Rican and Caribbean literature from the Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Puerto Rico y el Caribe and a master’s degree in Hispanic Studies from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus. He is associate professor in the Spanish department of the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, Recinto Metropolitano. From 2013 to 2017, he was the dean of the Escuela de ciencias sociales humanas of the Universidad del Este (UNE), currently known as Universidad Ana G. Méndez, Recinto de Carolina. Dr. Mayo Santana has worked as a Spanish and Puerto Rican and Caribbean literature professor at the undergraduate and graduate level. He has also published articles on literature in numerous journals. He is the co-author of Visión de mundo a través de la literatura (Editorial Plaza Mayor, 2006).
