Madeline Millán is a poet, writer, and translator. Millán serves as a professor of Spanish and Latin American literature at two New York universities: the Fashion Institute of Technology (since 2004), and the State University of New York, where she is one of the coordinators of Caribbean studies. Among her publications are: Para no morir por segunda vez (Ediciones Vox, 2002); De toros y estrellas (Terranova, 2004); Leche/Milk (Ediciones Godot, 2008), which won the National Poetry Prize of the PEN International Club of Puerto Rico; 365 esquinas (Terranova, 2008) and Día Cero (Terranova, 2009), among others. Recently, Que el mar no me falte was published with Editorial Isla Negra in 2019. Her poetry has been translated into English, Portuguese, Italian, French and Arabic. Millán founded Cornelia Street Café, a bilingual poetry reading series and leads Casa Pilar, a residency for artists and writers in Chapala, Mexico. She is currently working on two children’s books, Secreto escondido en un caracol and Luna en una cuchara.
