Paula María Arribas Cintrón, also known as paulamaría, was born in 1994 in Caguas, Puerto Rico and raised in the neighborhood of Villa Andalucía in Trujillo Alto, Rico. She obtained her BA in art history and a certification from the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras Campus’ women and gender studies program. After living for a summer in Cuba, she began pursuing an MA in contemporary art and visual culture at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in Spain. Her first publication, “Crónica de la marcha universitaria contra el IVA,” was published in Diálogo, and she won first place in the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Investigation and Creation Forum’s poetry category. Her work has been influenced by poets such as Alejandra Pizarnik and Cristina Peri Rossi. She currently lives in San Juan, Puerto Rico and works full-time as an art critic and part-time as a government official.
