Daniel Pommers
(He/Him)Daniel Márquez Rivera, who also writes as Daniel Pommers, was born in 1985 in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. He began taking a lifelong interest in literature and writing poetry during his teen years. He studied psychology at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, and later pursued an MFA in creative writing at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón. During his master’s studies, he finished the manuscript for his first novel Marlena. He is one of the founders of Gato Malo Editores and has published several poetry books including El esqueleto presenta (Río Piedras: Editorial Bacanal, 2009), Que así sea (Gato Malo Editores, 2013), and Libro de la suerte (Gato Malo Editores, 2020). According to Pommers, his writing is based on the idea of being “purely Caribbean.”
