Julio Ramos Arroyo studied Latin American literature at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the author of Desencuentros de la modernidad en América Latina: literatura y política en el siglo XIX (Fondo de Cultura Ecónomica, 1989) and editor of Amor y anarquía: escritos de Luisa Capetillo (Editora Educación Emergente, 2021). Similarly, he’s directed various documentaries, among them, Detroit’s Rivera: The Labor of Public Art (2017). Ramos Arroyo is a retired professor from the University of California at Berkeley.
