José Joaquín Ribera
(He/Him)José Joaquín Ribera Chevremont was born in 1901 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was a journalist, and poet, as well as the brother of Evaristo Ribera Chevremont. He attended primary and secondary schools in the capital. During his adolescence, Ribera Chevremont launched and directed a small literary magazine called Primavera. Like his brother, he distanced himself from formal education to work and immerse himself in bohemian literary circles. He contributed to various newspapers and magazines, including La Torrecilla. In his later years, Ribera Chevremont worked as the editor of the Department of Labor’s magazine Noticias del Trabajo. His works include Elegías románticas (Mystic Star Press, 1918), Breviario de vanguardias (1930), Lámpara azul (Tip. Real Hermanos, 1933), Poemas (Tip. Real Hermanos, 1934), Barandales del mundo (Biblioteca de autores puertorriqueños, 1944).
