Damaris Rivera Alicea was born in 1979 and raised in Comerío, Puerto Rico. Rivera Alicea has an MA in social work from the University of Puerto Rico. She is the author of two self-published poetry collections, Deshojada (2021), Inhabitable (2022), and Merezco ser feliz: Manual de escritura para sanar (2024)
