Carmen L. Rodríguez Marín
(She/Her)Carmen L. Rodríguez Marín was born in 1975 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She is the author of the books Salvahuidas (Erizo Editorial, 2013), Cosmogonías y otras sales (Editorial Corpus 2014), and Encamadas (Trabalis Editores, 2020). In 2013 she was awarded the Premio de Poesía José Gautier Benítez of the Municipality of Caguas. She obtained a BA in Hispanic studies from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez and an MA in Spanish from SUNY Binghamton, along with a certification in literary and non-literary translation from English to Spanish. Her work has been influenced by literary movements and analytical frameworks such as the Latin American Boom and Post-Boom, confessional poetry, literature of the absurd, poetry of the Global South and postmodernist poets. Throughout her life, she has worked as a part-time professor at the University of Puerto Rico, a teacher at the Academia María Reina, and director of publications and editor with the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña, among others. Rodríguez Marín resides in the San Juan borough of Cupey and works as an editor for her own business Con Acento: Edición y Corrección de Textos. She is also a part-time professor in the Master’s program in Creative Writing of the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Currently, she is writing children’s stories and books.
