The Puerto Rican Literature Project

Juan Sáez Burgos, nephew to Julia de Burgos, was born in 1942 in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico and died in 2006 in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. He studied art at the Universidad de Puerto Rico and law at Universidad de Granada, Spain. His poetry won awards from the Ateneo Puertorriqueño and the Department of Hispanic studies at his alma mater. His work is included in the anthology Hasta el final del fuego: Guajana, 30 años de poesía, edited by Marcos Reyes Dávila. His publications include Un hombre para el llanto (1969), Selección de poemas (1976), and La palabra y sus magos (2000).
