Alex Sastre-Rivera
(He/Him)Alex Sastre-Rivera was born in 1997 in Manatí, Puerto Rico and raised in the Barrio Limón of the town of Utuado, Puerto Rico. Sastre obtained his BA degree in English from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, and is the cofounder of the artistic project, Fractal Puerto Rico. His work is influenced by poets and writers, such as Xavier Varcárcel, Roque Raquel Salas-Rivera, Ángel Antonio Ruiz LaBoy, Mayra Santos-Febres, Yolanda Arroyo-Pizarro, Amarilis Taverez-Vales, Luis Negrón, Amanda Hernández, and Octavia Butler. Sastre’s work has been published in Sábanas Literary Magazine, Tonguas Literary Magazine and HerCampus. Currently, he resides in Atlanta, Georgia, where he is pursuing a PhD in comparative literature at Emory University. He is the author of Las Pequeñas Catástrofes (La Impresora, 2001), which received first place in the Universidad Politécnica de Puerto Rico’s poetry contest.
