Ana Castillo Muñoz
(She/Her)Ana Castillo Muñoz (1989) was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico and is the daughter of Dominican immigrants. The author of the book Corona de flores (Editorial EDP, 2021), Castillo Muñoz obtained her B.A. in Journalism from the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón. Her journalistic career has spanned various platforms, including Prensa Comunitaria, Exalumnos UPR, El Nuevo Día, and El Especialito. She wrote for the latter during her stay in New York City between 2012 and 2013. Her work has been influenced by writers such as Gabriel García Marquez, Rita Indiana, Julia de Burgos, Mayra Santos Febres, Mari Mari Narvaez, Gabriela Wiener, and José Luis González. She is the founder of the educational and multi{sex}sorial project for BIPOC communities and allies, Con el verbo en la piel, and a cofounding member of the Colectivo Afroversiva, a poetic response of maroon struggle and resistance. Currently, she resides in Santurce, where she works as an Education and Outreach Specialist for El proyecto de la literatura puertorriqueña / Puerto Rican Literature Project, and offers coaching and sex education services.
