Daniella Gabrielle Toosie-Watson is a poet, essayist, and teaching artist. They were born in 1991, in the Bronx, New York. They hold a B.A. in English with a minor in Writing from The College of Saint Rose, and an MFA in Poetry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. They were awarded the 92Y Discovery Contest (2020); the Civitas Fellowship, InsideOut Detroit Literary Arts Project (2018); and are alumna of Voices of Our Nations Arts Foundation, The Watering Hole Poetry Organization, and the Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop. Toosie-Watson’s work has been published in Poet Lore, The Paris Review, The Cincinnati Review, Frontier Poetry, The BreakBeat Poets Volume 4: LatiNEXT, Callaloo, among others. Their significant literary influences include Vievee Francis, Franz Kafka, Carl Phillips, Joshua Bennett, Sharon Olds, Taylor Johnson, Sandra Cisneros, and Ada Limón.
