Karla Cristina Torres Cruz
(She/her)Karla Cristina Torres Cruz was born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, in 1989. As a child, she grew up in a home where art was abundant. Her mother was an art teacher, her grandfather was a musician, and her grandmother taught her to recite poetry. She studied at the Central de Artes Visuales High School in Santurce and continued her studies at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, where she completed an M.A. in Urban Planning and Economics. She is the author of the poetry books El lenguaje de las muecas (2018) and Sobre el hombre y otros sistemas de colapso (2020). Torres Cruz has also been published in online literary journals such as Low-fi ardentía, Chocarreras and Demoliendo hoteles. Her work has been influenced by Marigloria Palma, José Maria Lima, Ángela María Dávila, Nicole Delgado, and Xavier Valcárcel.
