Mercedes Cruz-González
(She/Her)Mercedes Cruz-González was a poet, composer, actress, and journalist. She worked in the fields of radio, theater, and film. Cruz-González was the editor and a member of the Board of Editors of the Spanish segment of the San Marcos Daily Record. Her songs were interpreted by singers and musicians such as Enrique Mercedes Cruz-González, Silvia Sol, Paco Paco, and Tony Croatto. She was also part of the Summit County cast, under the direction of the producer, Antonio Calderón. Cruz-González was honored by the San Marcos’s Southwest Texas State University Chapter (now Texas State University) of the National Hispanic Honor Society in 1995 for her writing and commitment to Hispanic culture. Her works include El Coquí: Una colección de las poesías originales de la poetisa puertorriqueña (1996).
