The Puerto Rican Literature Project

Arturo Gigante was born in 1890 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was a poet, journalist, storyteller, and merchant. He studied his primary education in the capital city. In the 1920s-1930s, he wrote for the newspaper El Mundo, sometimes under the pseudonyms “Jiggs” or “Jix.” His short stories are compiled Ella, los muertos y yo…: Cuentos del más allá (1957).
