Nancy Méndez-Booth is a writer, educator, and interpreter of Puerto Rican descent born in New York, New York. She holds a BA in English from Amherst College, an MA in English critical theory and an MFA in creative writing, both from Rutgers University in Newark. She works as an editor at Looking to Sunday and a technical writer. Méndez-Booth has presented her work at Cornelia Street Café, The Moth, Hear Her Call Caribbean-American Women's Theatre Festival and Midtown International Theatre Festival. She has received awards to attend the Vermont Studio Center, Martha's Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing and Blue Mountain Center. In 2017, she was selected for the NJ Women Playwrights Program. Her writing has appeared in print and online publications, such as Poets & Writers, Latina, Salon, OZY Media, VIDA.org, and the anthology Latina Outsiders: Remaking Latina Identity. Méndez-Booth received the 2020 Literary Arts Award of the Jersey City Arts Council for artistic excellence and contribution to the arts community.
