Born in San Germán, Puerto Rico, Celia M. Ayala Lugo is a poet, community organizer, and educator. She is currently a doctoral student in Caribbean Literature and Languages in English at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. Ayala Lugo’s poetry explores the decolonization of feminism and beauty standards, sexuality, mental health awareness, intersectionality, postcolonialism, decolonization, and independence for Puerto Rico, Latin America, and the Caribbean. She is strongly influenced by the poets Tato Laviera, Judith Ortíz Cofer, and Mariposa Fernandez. Ayala Lugos has published poetry in Revista Sábanas, Smaeralit, and El Vicio del Tintero. She is the author of two bilingual collections: Diario de un labial atrofiado: vivencias y fantasías (2017) and Ramos de Vidrio (2017).
