Orlando José Hernández was born in 1952 in Puerto Rico and moved to the United States in 1969. He is a writer, translator, and scholar. His poetry has appeared in several literary magazines, including Ventana, Zona Carga y Descarga, and Sin Nombre. He is professor emeritus at Hostos Community College of The City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center in the Bronx, New York.
