César V. Quiñones—poet, painter, and graphic artist—was born in 1952 in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. He holds a BA from the University of Puerto Rico and was part of the efforts to organize the Association of the Latino Brotherhood of Artists (ALBA) while at Northeastern Illinois University. Quiñones worked as an educational counselor for Latinx communities and was part of the Puerto Rican community organization, El Taller, through their poetry and silk-screen workshops.
