Alejandro Álvarez Nieves
(He/Him)Alejandro Álvarez Nieves (1976) was born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico and is a poet, narrator, and translator. He obtained his B.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras (UPRRP) and his masters from the Programa Graduado de Traducción from the same institution. In 2012, he completed his Ph.D. in Translation and Intercultural Mediation at the Universidad de Salamanca. Álvarez Nieves is the author of Quiebre de armas (Trabalis Editores, 2018); El proceso traductor (Libros AC, 2012), which won the Certamen de Poesía El Nuevo Día in 2011; and La última noche en el Majestic, which received an Honorable Mention in Premios de Literatura del Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña, Novela in 2015. He also authored the chapbook Derrotas (Boreales, 2012). Currently, he’s an adjunct professor in Translation at UPRRP and a freelance translator.
