A quién acudiré á contar mis cuitas,
Después que almuerce, y llene mi barriga,
Obstruyéndola cosas exquisitas,
Ñame, yautía y lo que le siga,
A la calle me iré, y ya bien lastrado,
Plantón haré un buen rato allá en la esquina,
Atisnado se asome E. á la cortina,
No desoyendo en mí, á su enamorado;
CHarlarémos tan solo por señales
Idilio parodiando, y si se quita,
Trenqueando acudiré á contar mis males

To whom shall I tell my troubles,
Once I’ve finished lunch, having filled my belly,
Delicacies sitting in my stomach,
Okra, yams, taro and whatever there is,
Numb in fullness, I will take the street,
At the corner I shall remain a good while,
Pouting until E, appears by the curtain,
Attentively listening to me, her lover’s voice,
Now we will converse only by signing,
